1. Solar STCs

Eligible small-scale solar installations can create Small-scale Technology Certificates. Retailers commonly assign their value as an upfront discount shown in the quote.

2. Battery Support

The Australian Government's Cheaper Home Batteries Program supports eligible small-scale batteries through the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme. Current rules apply at installation.

3. Eligibility Matters

Approved products, installation requirements, system size, connection timing, location, and installer eligibility can affect support. Check the current program before proceeding.

4. Check the Quote

The proposal should identify the certificate or program value applied, the assumptions used, what happens if eligibility changes, and the price before and after support.

5. Finance Is Separate

A rebate or certificate discount is different from a loan. Compare the total amount repayable, fees, interest, term, and ownership conditions before selecting finance.

6. Recheck Current Programs

Federal, state, council, and retailer programs can open, close, or change. Use official government sources and confirm eligibility when the quote is prepared.

Solar Rebate Information

How the STC Program Works

The STC program provides financial incentives to reduce solar installation costs.

The number of STCs depends on the system size and location.
Each STC is valued at approximately $39 in 2024.
Rebates are applied as a discount on installation.
This calculator is based on the rebate amounts for Zone 2, assuming a certificate value of $40. Both Gold Coast and Sydney are in Zone 2 of the rebate.

Rebates reduce yearly by 7% until 2030. Your solar retailer typically handles the STC application for you.

Small: 5-6.6 kW (Bills between $350-$500)
Medium: 8-10 kW (Bills between $600-$800)
Large: 11-13 kW (Bills $1000+)
Commercial: 15 kW+ (Bills $1500+)
